Generative Strategies
In the STAR Lab we study what processes and strategies support learning. Are there general strategies or are there differences across contexts?
In details, we investigate how to improve science text comprehension, especially in geoscience—by pairing texts with analogies and analogical images, and by using guided self-explanation to help learners integrate them.

Metacognition and Problem-solving
Another research line we focus on in our lab is studying the relation between Metacognitive Accuracy and Mathematical Problem Solving and how this relation gets affected by different learning strategies and individual differences.

How does perception of AI shape our metacognitive judgments?
In this research area we explore how the perceived source of scientific explanations influences students’ judgments of trustworthy of the material, and how extend this perception affects their engagement with the content.
